Free music roundup!

July 20, 2010

Blow up the mic without blowing up your bank account!

It’s been proven by leading scientists that people love free things.  Free samples, free parking, free range, free Tibet… the list can go on and on. However, in this day and age, people love nothing more than free music. Regardless of your language, music speaks to everyone, and the best thing it can say is “Hey! You can listen to me without having to worry about being sent to the slammer and taking a fleshy immunization from a guy twice your size!”  With that, I give you the first of many installments of The Free Music Roundup! The following sources will lead you to some sweet tunes without having to jump through hoops or become anyone’s MySpace friend. (Besides, MySpace has already picked out a nice plot between Lycos and Geocities in the Internet graveyard.)  In this edition of free music roundup, we’ll snag some remixes from mc chris, NIN frontman Trent Reznor’s side project, and what may be the lost city of gold for 8-bit connoisseurs.

TheChadster’s Vlog: Quick Update

July 19, 2010

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all doing great. I’ve been sick lately, so my site updates have been at a standstill; and now I’m backed up on stuff I had planned to write about by maybe a week. Though as soon as I get better I’ll flood you good folks with new content graciously. Anyway, here is my new video.

Nerd is the Word #002 – Meet Yuni

July 11, 2010

#002 - Meet Yuni

A Little Bit About Yuni

So I’ve yet to come up with a last name for her, but Yuni is one of my most favorite characters I’ve ever created. In fact, all of the upcoming characters are. They transcend the typical webcomic formula of two main characters, one wacky and one sarcastic. It’s a done to death formula that’s been done since the days of The Odd Couple. Anyway, Yuni is a unicorn girl (Yuni sounds like unicorn, get it? Eh? Ehh???) who is the product of a one night stand between a forlorn unicorn and a woman enamored with the party lifestyle. Has she ever met her unicorn daddy? What about her party hardy mommy? Has she ever been the last person picked for a game of leapfrog? What’s her cup size? Has she ever put an eye out? I can answer all these questions with a resounding “No fucking idea.”  Just keep reading and clamoring for more! Third comic is written and the rough sketches are done. Expect it sometime next week!

Leliana’s Song Review (Dragon Age: Origins DLC)

July 7, 2010

Here is our very first DLC review. I just want to say up front I don’t think something you can download for under $10 is worth giving a numbered score, it’s simply a buy or don’t buy kind of situation because you can’t borrow or rent DLC. It’s just a small add-on that was made to give fans off the game something more to tide them over as they make the sequel, and try new ideas that may not have made it into the full game. Anyway here we go with…

Deathsmiles Review (360)

July 7, 2010

They're so cute, you'll forget they can level your house in a matter of seconds!

It’s probably no surprise that, as a hardcore anime fan who is also an avid gamer, a game involving gothic lolitas shooting everything in sight with magic spells would be right up my alley. I spied Deathsmiles in GameStop over the long weekend, packaged in an oblong box and for a mere $50 for a limited edition.  I expected it to be a run-of-the-mill side-scrolling shooter that got away with being a mediocre Japanese arcade port by having beautiful lolita art, but what I got was the most insane side-scroller I’ve ever played. Plus, it has adorable lolitas!  The limited edition is a pretty sweet deal; for fifty bucks, you get the game, the soundtrack, and a faceplate for your Xbox 360. Considering the prices for other games’ limited and/or special edition counterparts, fifty dollars is rather affordable.

Movie Review: Youth In Revolt

July 6, 2010

This was supposed to be a video review but I epic fail at editing shit on Windows Movie Maker. FML  Please excuse this one as my reviews will get better later when I actually figure out how to work crappy editing software. So here are just the bare bones of what I thought about this flick.

Everyone's badass side has facial hair. Just look at his killer 'stache.

Weird Al at Summerfest!

July 1, 2010

Two days ago, the polkaing parody patriarch known as “Weird Al” Yankovic visited Summerfest for a fantastic two-hour show. Accompanied by various Robot Chicken-esque video sequences in between songs, the show was a constant barrage of laughs.

Weird actions speak louder than weird words, so I’m going to leave you with two videos I shot myself with surprisingly good audio and video quality: The opening song and the closing song.
